At the upcoming Van Heusen India Men’s week, fashion design extraordinaire will once again give birth to an inhalation of creativity in the form of ‘Love. War!’ which is a fashion compilation inspired by the Second World War (1935-1945) and the years prior to it .The designer will present a dual collection fusing. A rich contrasting projection of vibrant compositions, depicting the love and bonhomie prevalent across Europe, prior to World War II; representing the ‘Spring – Summer 2010′collection followed by the decidedly structured and more sombre feel that held steady through the years of the war that represents the ‘Autumn – Winter 2009′ collection.

The ‘Spring – Summer20 10′ titled ‘Love.’ draws its inspirations from the pre-war era of the early 20th Century which will be an enthusiastic and creative burst of floral prints, pastel colours and earth tones like olive and a touch of powder blues. The silhouettes are semi structured and special emphasis has been laid on the comfort of the wearer. The collection comprises of linens, cottons, jerseys used to create an array of summer jackets, structured pants, pyjamas, t-shirts & shirts. In synch with true Olive style, the evening offered the best of fine food and jazz. The elite socialite and fashion connoisseur was in an eclectic mood and came to join the re-launch party, as AD Singh and wife Sabina dressed in elegant lounge dress extended a warm welcome to the guests. AD Singh of Olive enjoying his champagne expressed, “Over the years, Olive has blossomed into much more than a restaurant; it has now become a part of life, a melting pot where life imitates art, and often, the other way around. Fashion Tips for the New Season

The same thing happens to me every year: in February I’m so ready for the warmer weather to arrive that I “almost” don’t feel like going shopping, since I don’t want anything else for winter and I won’t be able to use anything I buy for the spring since it’s still cold outside. But, good planner that I am, I’ve already started to pay attention to the new clothing collections and accessories. So if, like me, you are already planning your look for the new season, here are the tips you need to keep in mind:

Tip #1: Makeup-like Shades in Nude, Pastels, and Cream
If you can use only one color this spring, let it be nude (or a pastel or cream). Choose the shade that looks best with your skin. You can choose a dress or a blouse in a light fabric. These colors are very becoming, especially if you have slightly darker skin (note that this year we won’t see intense bronzing, but rather – fortunately for me – a light golden tone).

How can you know which color looks best on you? It’s very easy. Simply hold up (or try on) a piece of clothing when you’re wearing makeup and are well-dressed. If you see that your skin is automatically brighter and you look better, you’ve found it! If, instead, your under-eye circles and imperfections become more noticeable, it isn’t your color, so look for something darker or lighter.

Finding the right shade in these types of colors is difficult, especially if (like me) you are very light-skinned (if your skin is darker or lightly bronzed, you’ll look great in practically any shade of cream or nude). I take the clothing home (always making sure that I can return it) and try it on under lighting that I can control, with the accessories I plan to use.

Dresses in these shades are killer, and if you wear them with a short suede jacket in the same color, you can wear them a little sooner in the year.

Tip #2: The “Must-Have Color of Spring: Coral
This spring is not all about subtle colors. The color you’ll see this year, and which is also very attractive, is an intense coral shade. You’ll see it in clothing, but also in lipstick and nail polish.

If you’re going to a wedding or another important event, dare to use this becoming, trendy color. An orange-colored dress is one of the pieces on my list for this season. I haven’t found it yet, but I will.

Tip #3: And Black, Too – Yes, in Spring!
I already know that I wear a lot of black, but let me tell you that it’s such a becoming color for me! But be careful – you need to be cautious in choosing black clothing. First, if you wear all black, you must make sure that the colors on the top and bottom match perfectly and are made from the same material. Also, you need to make sure that the clothing is perfectly ironed and impeccable. If you wear a black sweater with pilling, it won’t look good, and if it’s black the pilling will definitely be noticeable!

Black is normally a color for winter, but it will be in use this spring (lucky for me, since half my wardrobe is black, although I combine the pieces with colorful accessories). I’m already looking for the perfect little black dress for spring. Of course, if you don’t like wearing black, you can opt for pure white, as well as one of the winning combinations of all time: black with white. Remember that if you want to minimize your hips, you should use black for the lower part of your outfit and combine it with a white blouse or top.

Tip #4: Safari, Military, and Khaki Styles in Dark Green
I like this tip, because I look good in safari-style clothing – that is, typical khaki pants with a silk safari-style blouse (with pockets on the chest) and really high-heeled brown sandals. Dark green shirts, jackets, and pants are very becoming. If the piece has a touch of military style, it’s even better. Wear these pieces with brown accessories, like dark brown belts and suede handbags. I’ve already found an intense green shirt that will soon be part of my wardrobe.

Tip #5: Sexy and Comfortable Accessories
Oh, here’s a trick! Look on the sales racks for pieces that fit with the new season’s trends…. I just bought some wedge-heel, peep-toe shoes in Uterqüe that were marked down 70%. ? Wedge-heel shoes are definitely going to be key pieces this season. That’s great, because they’re very comfortable and incredibly sexy. Also, if you don’t already have them, search for some high-heeled sandals with brown straps – you’ll wear them with everything.

While this is the case for some cultures several others regard the female body as a beauty to behold leading to more revealing clothing that accentuates the feminine form. Other societies such as tribal Africans do not buy their clothes from stores and therefore wear only what is provided in their climate and purely use the natural resources around them to make their own clothing and usually have sensible trends that are conducive to a lifestyle that is closer to the earth. Many people all over the world male and female are judged by their own communities by what they choose to wear. Fashion itself if merely an idea believed by an individual or shared by many.

Define your trend and waist with a basic belt. The width and placement of a belt changes with the trends of each season. From a thin one set slightly above the natural waist or a chunky trend slung low resting on the hips, belts will be the new BFF of your curves.

Purses are staples for each female and give the opportunity to let her personality shine through every ensemble. Classic black and brown are must have items, but never underestimate the addition of a distinct shape or color/print. Something that really catches the eye is the core of an accessory.

Not to be forgotten is the scarf. Spanning all the colors of the rainbow, scarves wrap the personality of a female around the world she embraces. With so many ways to be draped, wrapped or looped a scarf is a easy finishing touch for any day of the week.

So why Chennai as the venue? Gaurav Sharma, the head of Storm Fashion Company, the organizers and the producers of the event said on a lighter note, “The city has been always known for its hot weather so we thought of making it haute! The first edition has been strategically placed in Chennai for its proximity to Tirupur; one of the largest garment export hubs in India. 30 Indian fashion designers, 10 international guest designers, 35 fashion shows, 60 models from India and abroad – all will be clubbed together in this event. The designers will present the latest fashion trends that will dominate the Spring/Summer 2010-11. The show will also have 10 international beauty Pageant Winners from various countries walking the runway! The event is being backed by a very strong and accomplished board of professionals. Headed by marketing and services professional Gaurav Sharma, the team’s advisors include Chennai’s very own Shakthi Girsh, Pratap Pothen , Arun Mammen, Girish Ramdass and Meera Chopra. Some of the Indian designers who will be participating include Pria Kataaria Puri, Shane & Falguni Peacock, Vikram Phadnis, Sanchita Ajjampur, Aslam Khan, Satya Paul, Jason & Anshu, Nishka Lulla and Neeta Lulla.

Designer Anshu of the label Small Shop shared, Since we are based in Chennai and already have stores, we thought it would be good to be a part of such a huge event. We will be showcasing our Spring-Summer collection called- Na Ati. Pria Kataaria Puri is scheduled to open the show with Bollywood actress Neetu Chandra as her show stopper. The grand finale will be by designer Neeta Lulla and this event will also offer a platform for 10 new designers to present their talent.

Talking about the sponsors of the event, Gaurav revealed, Kingfisher is the main partner. In addition to it, Arvind Mills is one of the associates and we are looking for more associations. Steadily moving towards the main event, the organizers have planned out an All India Model Auditions in Bangalore on November 8, 2009 and the models will be critically valued by a panel of judges comprising of Anupama Verma (Super Model, Actress & Fashion Producer), Mehar Bhasin (Fashion Choreographer/Grooming Expert), Pravin Talan (Celebrated International Photographer) Atul Kelkar (Consultant), Rahul Dev Shetty (Fashion Model/Choreographer). Says Mehar Bhasin, show director CIFW – It’s been my dream to perform at Chennai and CIFW has come as a unique platform with the concept of global fashion. Out of the 35 shows, I’ll be choreographing ten main shows. We are looking to have fresh faces with good catwalk styles. Plus it is an opportunity to present modelling world with debut faces. One of the jury members, Rahul Dev Shetty added, During model auditions, I am looking for someone who is, fresh, vibrant, young and confident. The model need not be pretty but must have attitude, good height and proportionate attractive body, he signs off.
